Crushing goals every day!
Time for another featured athlete, and our girl Liz has definitely earned a place in our hearts through so much hard work, sacrifice, and DRIVE. We knew Liz was special when we first met her, and since then, she has never ceased to amaze us with her huge heart, infectious cheerful spirit, and DEDICATION to her progress as an athlete and healthy individual. When we asked her if she would participate in the feature, she was simply elated, and also surprised! But she shouldn’t be surprised at all, because she has done the work, and absolutely deserves to be recognized, respected, and applauded for her awesome achievements. Her weight loss so far is incredible, but that’s just scratching the surface. Liz is just getting started! She competed in the CrossFit Open Games last year, and we will be cheering her on again this year. We know she will crush her goals in 2018, and we are honored to be part of her journey. She makes us laugh, smile, cry, and ensures we all get our fair share of hugs! Thank you for being such an important part of our community Liz, we love you and can’t wait to see what the future holds for you.
Here’s some thoughts from the lovely Liz, in her own words. 🙂
1. What brought you to CrossFit in the first place?
My friend Kynnedy Wilson. She started coming for about a week. Her and I were working together and built this amazing friendship and she told me to just try it. I was so burned out on the basic gym and she knew I had new goals and wanted to try something new. So I owe it all to her, literally because god placed her in my life at the right time because he knew. ?
2. What was your first impression? How has that changed?
WOW! And no, I’m stilled WOW’d every time I walk in for a workout I absolutely love it.
3. What was your first “bright spot”?
When I was finally able to lift more than the bar
4. What are you working on now?
Building muscle, losing fat and making my speed and endurance faster
5. What’s your favorite crossfit experience so far?”
The people and the coaches! It’s literally like a second family and definitely all the positive empowerment and motivation!
6. What was your starting weight?
199.2
7. Current weight?
169.2
8.. List a couple lifts and what you started at, versus the weight you are at now.
Deadlift, started at 155, now lifting 225, etc.
clean-35/100 push press 35-45ish/105. I can also do banded push ups. I recently got my first handstand holds, I was so excited! I do them all the time now.
9. In what ways has your endurance improved?
I can actually run without stopping, my speed has gotten better
10. Describe how you think CrossFit has affected other areas of your life.
Crossfit is my 1 hr getaway from life, when everything else is wrong I go to the gym and nothing matters at all.
11. Tell us why you like training at Argonaut.
I love all my coaches and all my box-mates they are all amazing, empowering I also love all the workouts.
Tell us anything else about your journey, your goals, and your thoughts about this adventure!
I also have an amazing support team outside of the box my boyfriend Marcus has always pushed me to achieve my goals and has been amazing the past 3 1/2 years of my journey. A couple years ago, I was heavier than 199 I actually was 290-300 flexuated here and there and had a personal trainer, did boxing, and then a normal gym. But since I’ve started CrossFit I know this is where I belong and I know that this has changed me as a person inside and outside of the box. Self love is very important. Also living a healthy lifestyle and a balanced life is much more than just outside of the gym. Live & breathe it ❤ anything is possible through god and a good heart and a beautiful mindset.
